Will Insurance Cover My Visit?

Good news! Many nutrition counseling and Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) are covered by insurance. Checking your coverage only takes a few minutes and could mean paying little or nothing for your visit.

Whether you choose to verify your benefits yourself or would like us to help, we're here to make the process as simple as possible.

Please visit the link below for more details about Dandewell’s Insurance and Payment policies.

Option 1: Verify Benefits Yourself

We strongly suggest calling your insurance company to check your coverage and benefits. While Dandewell offers verification as a courtesy, you are ultimately responsible for understanding your coverage.

The quickest way to check your coverage is to call the Member Services number on the back of your insurance card.

When you call, ask these questions:

Is nutrition counseling or Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) covered under my plan?

Ask specifically about CPT codes:

  • 97802 (Initial Visit)

  • 97803 (Follow-Up Visits)

These are the standard billing codes for nutrition counseling.

Is Dandewell (Tammy Tubbleville, RDN) in network?

You may need to provide them with Tammy’s NPI #: 1023822434

You may also need to provide Dandwell’s Group NPI #: 1053287771

Do I need a referral from my primary care provider?

Some insurance plans require one before your visit

Will I have a copay, deductible or coinsurance?

It’s helpful to know your expected out-of-pocket costs before your appointment.

Are there limits to the number of covered visits?

Some plans cover a certain number of nutrition visits each year. We typically recommend at least 3 sessions for most clients.

Are telehealth visits covered?

If you plan to meet virtually, ask whether nutrition counseling is covered through telehealth.

Option 2: We’d Be Happy to Help

Not sure what to ask or prefer that we help?

Complete the form below with your insurance information, and we'll review your benefits and let you know what your plan may cover before your first appointment.

Please note: While we’re happy to help verify your benefits, every plan is different. Verification is an estimate provided by your insurance company and is not a guarantee of payment.

A Quick Note About Insurance

We'll review your insurance information and help you understand your available benefits before your first appointment. Because insurance plans vary, coverage and patient responsibility cannot be guaranteed until claims have been processed by your insurance company. Any balance not covered by your insurance plan is the patient’s responsibility.
